Non-Fiction Genres: Ripped From the Headlines

Calling all non-fiction leisure readers!  Want to find new reads but not sure what to ask for? Check this non-fiction genre map out for new ways to think about non-fiction.

Ripped From the Headlines books often cover of-the-moment stories, and usually have a shocking, investigational or confessional tone.  These are personal stories told from the point of view of someone directly involved in the story, or narrative exposés written by an investigative author.  They are often fast-paced, engrossing, gripping reads.  They cover subjects from serial killers to art theft to political scandals to celebrity memoirs that reveal struggles with a medical condition  There can be overlap in interest with True Lives (for personal, confessional stories), Current Events (for books about the politicians, businesses, and other organizations covered by exposé pieces), Thrills (for the shocking, exciting, compellingly weird aspects of the genres) or Pop Culture (for the interest in of-the-moment subjects or confessional stories from pop culture figures)
